UNDEFEATED by Claudia Burgoa
Even though this isn’t the first book of the series it’s the first I’ve read. Claudia explained it so well that I don’t feel like I’m behind on details… Although I WILL go back and start from the beginning of the series to get every juicy detail of their lives. I’m excited to start from the beginning. From the first chapters I was in tears.
It was heart breaking to hear Porter being tossed out of the only family he knew. But I could understand why they had to do it for the safety and sanity of their family. Porter went from nothing, to a loving family, a lucrative rock star career that he had no clue how to handle, to throwing it all down the drain. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can crawl out of the trenches to become the person you’re meant to be!
After years of rehab Porter settles into a routine of work and helping out his land lady Molly whenever she needs it. Other than that he stays clean and away from others. Does he have the strength to keep it up? Has he dealt with the demons of his past? Can he TRUELY move on?
Mackenzie a stay at home mom was dealt the ultimate heartbreaking news of having to deal with her husbands untimely death, while trying to deal with two very young children whom basically lost both parents that day because of her depression afterwards. Harper has her friends and school so she’s able to cope a little better. Poor little Finn on the other hand is so young he doesn’t understan what’s happened, but doesn’t utter a word after his father dies.
Mackenzie doesn’t know what to do to get beyond the debilitating grief, but she knows she needs to take care of her children. She decides to move to Oregon for a fresh start, her aunt Molly offers her a place to stay and to help with the children. Will she be able to do it? Is she really ready to do it?
Mac and Porter have major life struggles ahead of them, are they able to come out ahead? You’ll have to read their story to find out, but it’ll be worth your time! I loved it!! I give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5 stars! PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding drug use/addiction that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the produced. If you do decide to continue reading, Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
