Excerpt ~
“Hello, Natalia.”
The sharp pain in her chest couldn’t have been any worse if someone had cracked open her ribcage, reached inside, and torn out her heart.
“Leave me alone, Cash,” she croaked to the man she’d adored since she was fifteen.
“I can’t do that.”
She tightened her grip on the door handle, certain if she let go she’d crumple to the floor. “Don’t you think I’ve been hurt enough?” she whispered.
Cash bowed his head, and his shoulders drooped. “I don’t want to cause you any more pain.”
“Then go away.” She turned her back on him and opened the door.
“Please, Natalia. Can we go inside and talk?”
She rested her forehead against the doorframe. “No,” she said in a wavering voice. Tears pricked behind her eyes. She dug her fingernails into her palm as she swallowed past an uncomfortable lump in her throat.
“I can explain,” he said, his hand lightly touching her arm.
She spun out of his reach but kept her back to him. “I said no.” Her chin trembled, and she clenched her jaw to stop the involuntary movement. “I’m not interested in anything you have to say.”
“I know I’ve fucked up. Please, let me inside. I’ll tell you everything. About Gracie, about my mother and father. Everything. It’s what I should have done already.”
“Cash, please.” She faced him then, her voice cracking as the tears she’d desperately tried to hold back spilled down her cheeks. “Why are you doing this?”
“Oh, baby,” he said, reaching for her again.
She staggered backwards and stumbled over the step. Her ankle twisted as she tried to save herself. Cash shot out an arm and pulled her against his chest. This time, she didn’t have the energy to resist. She slumped against him as he dug around in his pocket.
He produced a crumpled tissue and wiped away her tears. “You’re freezing. Let’s go inside and get you warmed up.”
Before she could protest, he ushered her through the door and into the tiny hallway. He walked straight ahead into the kitchen like he owned the damned place and then flicked the kettle on.
“Go and get a shower. I’ll have the tea made by the time you get out.”
She wanted to tell him no, that she could make her own bloody tea, but the words wouldn’t come. She trudged into the bathroom and locked the door. She wouldn’t put it past Cash to follow her, and she craved control even as she sensed it slipping out of reach.
She’d thought Brighton would be a refuge, a place to heal, but he’d found her so easily. Once she’d showered and dressed in clean clothes, she would be able to deal with Cash. She would listen to what he had to say and then politely ask him to leave.
And then she was going home to London.

Tracie Delaney is the author of the Winning Ace trilogy. She loves nothing more than immersing herself in a good romance, although she sometimes, rather cheekily, makes her characters wait for their HEA.

When she isn’t writing or sitting around with her head stuck in a book, she can often be found watching The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones or any tennis match involving Roger Federer. Her greatest fear is running out of coffee.
Tracie studied accountancy, gaining her qualification in 2001. Her maths teacher would no doubt be stunned by this revelation considering Tracie could barely add two plus two at high school.

Tracie lives in the North West of England with her amazingly supportive husband. They both share a love of dogs, travel and wine.

“Really, Bear. I can drop you at your place before I go to the fabric shop.” Crystal started the car, feeling more in control than she had inside the shop. She hated the way she’d frozen up when things had gotten hot between them. She wanted him. After putting herself through three years of therapy, dealing with not only the trauma of the attack, but the bullshit with her mother and the loss of her father, she was sure she could handle anything. She’d dated other guys since she’d left college without issue. Why did it have to be different with the only guy she wanted to be close to? It pissed her off that her past still owned a piece of her, and she needed to get over it before Bear got fed up and walked away for good.

“I have to go to the store anyway.” He flashed one of his smiles. “We might as well go together.”

“You need to go to the fabric store?” she said flatly, knowing he was bullshitting her. She realized her car smelled different, cleaner. The seats were shiny, the dashboard dust free. “Did you clean my car?”

“Detailed it,” he said casually, as if he did this type of thing every day. For all she knew, he did. “Changed your oil, topped off your fluids. You really need to do those things every three thousand miles.” He touched the doll hanging from her rearview mirror. “I dusted off this, too, even though I’m a little worried that it’s a voodoo doll.”

She wasn’t about to tell him it was a worry doll that she loved more than life itself.

“Bear.” She couldn’t suppress her smile about the voodoo doll as she drove toward the store. “You really need to stop acting like you have to take care of me. I appreciate you handling the inspection, which I’m paying you for, by the way. But you don’t have to do all these things for me. I already like who you are.” Even if I have a hard time showing it.

“I know you do,” he said, as cocky as ever.

Why is that such a turn-on?

“I didn’t do it to get your attention. Shit, six three, two thirty.” He flexed his biceps and winked. “You’re sitting next to Peaceful Harbor gold, baby. I’ve got your attention.”

She couldn’t suppress a laugh. “That you do, and probably half the women in this town.”

“Only half?”

He kept her laughing the whole way to the fabric store, and it was just what she needed. It really had been a long day. They’d hosted three parties, and one of the mothers was just about the most obnoxious woman on earth. She’d pushed her daughter toward pink frilly outfits for the first half hour, when all the little cutie had wanted was to dress up as a skateboard princess. Gemma realized Crystal was going to strangle the wench, and she’d calmly suggested the woman head down to Jazzy Joe’s for coffee. The rest of her day hadn’t been much better. Plus, she’d spent the morning overthinking everything about her relationship with Bear, which was probably why she’d freaked out when she’d really been dying to kiss him.

She parked in front of the fabric store. There were some things that just didn’t fit in the world as Crystal knew it, and Bear Whiskey clad in a tight black T-shirt that said Whiskey Bro’s across his massive chest, a pair of snug, low-slung black jeans, and leather boots strutting into Jennilyn’s Fabric was on the top of the list.

She pulled her list from her bag as his eyes coasted over the store. What was he thinking, coming with her? That was dedication she could not ignore. The epitome of commitment.

That is Bear.

My Bear?

She toyed with that as he draped his arm over her shoulder. She wondered what had taken him so long. She’d expected him to do it the second she’d stepped from the car, but he was probably in shock that they were actually going to a fabric store. She smiled to herself as he leaned closer and rubbed his nose along her cheek.

“Can I help you?” she asked with a laugh.

“You smell like jelly beans, and I happen to have a thing for sugary goodness.”

“You can’t seriously have that good a sense of smell.”

He pressed an unexpected, and deliciously warm, kiss to her cheek and reached into her purse, withdrawing a bag of jelly beans. “Hoarding? Or were we going to hide these later in your body and let me find them?” He moved his mouth beside her ear and whispered, “Blindfolded. With my hands tied behind my back.”

He nudged her deeper into the store. Holy crap. She’d stopped walking. Was she breathing? And was that a thing? Blindfolded? Hands tied behind his back? Oh, the control that would give her. She’d be at no risk of being overpowered. But would she want that much control? She imagined herself lying naked on her bed, watching as his greedy mouth moved over her breasts, down her belly, and she felt herself go damp.

No, no, no.

Ice cream. Ice baths. Cow poop!

Her body continued vibrating from the inside out. This was bad. Really, really bad. Like a virusshe couldn’t shake. She needed an anti-Bear pill. Stat!

•Confidence and Determination
Another amazing story by Melissa Foster! Each of her series pulls me in as soon as I open the book, although they’re part of a series each story can be read as standalone and can be read in any order. Within the series each story has its own couple, but they all interconnect, which means you just have to read them ALL!! This is Bear and Crystal story, and oh boy what a steamy and emotional story it is. I cried, but laughed even more. The love throughout this story is amazing, who can resist a kitten, a toddler and the cutest little girl ever. Every couple deserve their own HEA. To find our how much willingness, commitment, willpower, love, confidence and determination there is within this story you’ll have top read TRULY, MADLY, WHISKEY. I loved it and although I haven’t read River of Love or Tru Blue yet, I WILL BE!! I also cannot wait for Bullet, Bones & Dixie’s stories, Melissa is awesome. I have not been disappointed by anything of hers I’ve read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 16 and older.
Favorite Passages ~

~ “They say orchids are symbols of love and affection,” he said softly. “And the harder they are to find, the more love and affection they hold. When you put all these magnificent beauties together, you get the most unique flower on earth.”
~ “You give me strength, Bear, the way you believe in me. Thank you, and thank you for being here for me.”
~ Love, loyalty, and respect for all runs as thick as blood through their veins. A blessing and a curse.

After nearly four years with Jeff, everything fell apart. I found myself single, scared, but somehow liberated as well. Rather than stumble into another ill advised relationship, my best friend Sally helped me find focus. I would spend the next few months “finding myself” sexually. That’s how The Rebound List was born.
My journey begins with the first item on my list – a virgin. But it’s not easy to go from squeaky-clean committed girlfriend to wanton sex goddess. Hopefully I’ll have the guts to follow through!
What (or whom) would you do to celebrate your freedom after your first serious relationship breaks down?

Call me “H.” or Hedonist if you prefer. I’m a Romance writer based in London and I’ve always been a dreamer, though it didn’t occur to me to write down the stories I kept dreaming up until 2012. You’ll not find flowery language and poetry in my work. What you will find though is believable characters, none of whom perfect, going through life and trying to find happiness. Just like the rest of us.

I first started writing because I craved to see more of “my kind of books” on the shelves. In any scenario, you’ll find me rooting for the underdog. The (emotionally) scarred hero who hasn’t really had much (or any) luck in love. The shy office worker who wants to pursue the man of her dreams, but hasn’t quite mustered the courage yet. All my characters are beautifully flawed and messed up, in a way that makes them perfect for one another.

The ad titled ‘sick of being a virgin’ captures my attention immediately. It’s written by a guy in his twenties who explains in the understatement of the century that he’s never had much luck with relationships: he’s never been with anyone. I have trouble focusing on the entire text because his profile picture keeps inviting me to stare.
His eyes hold me like a deer caught in headlights. He’s got a bit of a hipster thing going with slightly too long, light brown hair and a goatee. How the hell did he make it this far without so much as a date? Not even a kiss. What’s the catch?
I’ve no choice: this ad, the timing. It’s all a sign, I was meant to find his profile. I nearly forget to breathe when I see his location, barely twenty minutes away from me. Perfect; I must try to pursue him.
It looks like he has spent quite some time fleshing out his profile; he’s trying to give this site a good go while also remaining anonymous beyond his picture and location. His name isn’t mentioned anywhere and that suits me just fine. To me he’s a concept: a few pictures and an assortment of likes, dislikes and worries, but not quite yet a fully formed person.
Supply and demand; he wants a certain experience, as do I. Really, the less I know the better, if I’m going to be successful and avoid emotional entanglement along the way.
He writes that he worries he’d disappoint and has considered visiting an escort, but so far not gone through with that plan. His fear is that all other guys are experienced, whereas he so obviously isn’t. That can change, sweetheart, and no payment will be needed. He blames his lack of game on his larger physique which practically breaks my heart. Whoever led him to believe that was not just cruel, but mistaken as far as I’m concerned.
I keep hovering over the message button. Or should I just send him a friend request? I wish I knew what would be the right way of handling this, but I doubt anyone’s ever written a self-help book on this topic. ‘How to hook up with a virgin on Fetlife’. Too bad, I’d love to read it.
Instead of acting on my impulses straightaway, I decide to grab myself a glass of wine and think. Willing and nearby virgins don’t grow on trees I imagine, not of this calibre anyway. I can’t afford to fuck this up.
Finally I take a deep breath and type out a message to him. Perhaps it would be best to just be honest. The wine is starting to give me a pleasant buzz by now, which definitely helps.

‘Hi, I read your personal ad and felt compelled to respond. Just as many men would love to be someone’s first, the opposite can be true as well. And frankly I’m surprised you’ve not had more luck so far, because I think you’re very attractive. If you like, send me a friend request and perhaps we could see where this goes?’

Too forward or not enough? I can’t decide if I come across as an idiot and decide to just send it before heading to the kitchen for a refill. Chilled white wine isn’t the best drink for this cold weather. Or perhaps it’s the nerves giving me shivers.
Sitting back down with the full glass in hand, I notice one notification: a request. I guess maybe he doesn’t think I’m that much of an idiot after all. Although my heart is racing, my nerves are dulled just enough to transform my earlier anxiety into excitement.
When I hit ‘accept’, his name appears in the little chat box to the side of the page, but I don’t get the chance to think about it too much. His profile reveals extra photographs which weren’t available before and I’m hopelessly distracted. Oh my, I can see why he would’ve set them to be hidden from his public profile because by the end, nothing is left to the imagination.
They say women are less visual than men, and while that may be true, I can certainly appreciate the view. He’s beautiful in a way that an airbrushed underwear model could never be. My wish of wanting something new and totally unlike Jeff may just turn into reality. Jeff was skinnier than average and very boyish and hairless, this guy looks more towards the other end of the spectrum on both counts. If he were gay, I guess he might be referred to as a bear.
It hits me that I’ve spent years being very naive about my sexuality. I never looked at anyone with quite the same mind-set as what I’m doing now and it surprises me how aroused I’m becoming.
Taking a sip from my glass, I’m having a hard time looking away. Not only could I imagine myself having sex with him—which in itself is out of character for me—I am already obsessively fantasising about it. Merely the thought of what it might feel like to touch his chest is starting to make me wet.
I’m done for; I’ve found my first mark.

•Holy Toledo
Warning: This Isn’t Over, Baby is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story.
This story is NOT for everyone.
This IS a love story. This IS a dark story.
With this being the 3rd book of the War & Peace series by K. Webster and the 1st one I’ve read, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. So I’m not quite sure how to review this book, without giving too much away. Having not read the previous books, I can’t compare their shock value to book 3, but Holy Toledo this one is OFF THE CHARTS. Although the author recommends reading the series in order, because Gabe gave information about his younger years, I was able to get enough background information about the story to understand what was going on with him without being completely lost. HOWEVER I think it would’ve been better if I had read them in order to get the complete little details instead of bits and pieces to understand the characters better.
Hannah’s parents are Baylee and War. Gabe has watched Hannah throughout her life, but has had to do it secretly because of their past connection. He’s always loved her and promised he’d protect her and one day they’d be together. While her parents are out of the country she goes to a college party, drinks, two guys drug her, rape her & Gabe saves her from them.
Hannah is depraved, Gabe swooped in and became her whole world, but now even he worries sometimes if he’s in over his head with her. She is wickedly crazy!
*Villains need love, too*(direct book quote)
DEFINITELY an emotional and sometimes extremely disturbing roller coaster that’ll have you
turning the page to find out what happens next, while others may want off the ride. The book leaves you guessing and questioning what is coming next, Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
REMEMBER This story is NOT for everyone. This IS a love story. This IS a dark story.
Please be ADVISED before reading this book it may have some valid triggers. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding this DARK LOVE STORY (sexual themes and violence), that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the author has produced. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING!

What happens between Ren and Brie? Things get pretty intense in this story (the whole series), but it’s worth reading!
This is the 4th book in the THIS ISN’T YOU series, although I missed the first two, I’ve enjoyed reading on to see how the story continues to unfold. This one as with at least book 3 (since that’s the only other one I’ve read so far) doesn’t technically end on a cliffhanger but, it does leave you dangling with a bite of who book 5 will be about. And of course ends on a high dramatic climax, with you wanting book 5 to be ready now! I’ll be looking forward to not only getting my greedy hands on it, but re-reading the completed series when K. Webster is finished with it.I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book. via IndieSage through bookfunnel in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
Please be ADVISED before reading this book, I feel that I need to advise you and all future readers that in all likelihood this book may have some valid triggers that you as a reader may find objectionable or repulsive. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding drug use/addiction that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the produced. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING! Due to explicit sexual content, drug use and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.image

The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

Lucille Amboise has been serving as Enforcer to the Vampire Council for centuries; a role she’s always taken extremely seriously. When an investigation causes her to cross paths with a human tracker who is hunting the same criminal, she decides to join forces, at least on the surface, to increase her chances of bringing the rogue vampire to justice. Two things she didn’t count on: the growing connection between the human and her, and the ever growing risk of losing either her life or her heart if he finds out about her true nature.

Valentino Conti’s family has lived on the fringes of human society for generations. He comes from a long line of hunters, not of animals, but of so-called Nightwalkers. His latest investigation takes him to London, where he’s surprised to find a mysterious woman on the trail of the same murderous monster he’s after. They begin to work together, but he can’t contain his curiosity: who is his new partner, and what secrets she does she hide?

All books, including this one, in the Vampires of London series are standalone and can be read out of order.
Ever since Lucille had hauled the criminal known as Marek before the Council, she could not wait for the trial to begin. She had so many questions and very few answers. Her curiosity was what made her such a driven investigator.
Marek was a Soul Eater; that much was clear. But how had he become so powerful? How old was he? How long had he been killing humans indiscriminately without appearing on her radar?
Obviously, he had only just started his reign of terror in London a few weeks ago, when a human had been found on the brink of death by one of their own. The vampire Michael had turned the unfortunate female, and Lucille had worked together with the unlikely pair to track down Marek and his henchmen.
It had been a triumphant victory for her, and earned her much praise from Julius, Lucille’s maker and leader of the Council.
Tonight was finally going to be the night. The trial of Marek and his associates would begin.
He stood accused of reckless conduct that risked the exposure of the vampire race to humanity as well as attempted murder of a fellow vampire. Julius had wanted to add on more charges, but decided against it on Lucille’s advice. They had caught him on the gravest crime possible. The Council took the safety of their kind extremely seriously. And randomly draining humans and leaving them for all the world to find was the most callous display of overt vampirism the city had seen in over a century. The only way the Council could have come down any harder on Marek would have been if he’d videotaped himself drinking his victim’s blood and posted it on the Internet.
So it wasn’t the outcome of the trial that Lucille was interested in; the case was clear and the punishment obvious; Marek would be sentenced to death, and depending on whether they were complicit or only following orders, so would his two associates. Lucille was more interested in any possible justifications Marek would give during the process. Any information at all that would shine a light on his motivations and history.
Lucille would be lying to herself if she didn’t admit that Marek’s immense power had intrigued and even impressed her a bit. He had been a formidable adversary.
Additionally, there was something about the vehemence with which Julius sought to punish Marek that had set off her investigative instincts. There was something more to their relationship than the Council leader had led on.
“Are you ready, my child?” Julius interrupted her thoughts.
“Yes, of course.” Lucille looked up and nodded at her maker.
The most powerful vampire in the world, as Julius liked to refer to himself at times. It was true in a political sense. His claim for the Council leadership had gone unchallenged for centuries. Though Marek had shown powers that outshone Julius manifold. Was that his reason for disliking the Soul Eater so much?
He returned her nod and beckoned her to come closer.
“It’ll all be over soon. Before long, Marek will no longer be able to threaten our way of life.”
Lucille scrutinized the smug grin on Julius’ face. He was definitely hiding something.
“Have you come across him before?” she asked.
Julius glanced at her, his face suddenly serious again. “We’ve known of the Soul Eaters that live outside the Council’s realm of influence for centuries. You know this. Never before have they ventured into London, though.”
None who were this evolved, no. Though Lucille had dealt with plenty of killers before.
That hadn’t answered her question, but Lucille decided not to pry. Due to their history, Julius had a soft spot for her, but it would be unwise to exploit their relationship just to get answers out of him. Perhaps she was just being nosy. What business was it of hers whether or not Julius knew the Soul Eater from another time?
“I will call in the elders,” Lucille said. “Once everyone is here we can begin.”
Julius shot her a quick smile and rubbed his hands together. “Very good, my child.”
Lucille left the main hall and rounded up the other six members of the Council. Although she was already four centuries old, the elders, as the term suggested, were all much more senior. At least a millennium old, each one of them. Together, they represented the far corners of the world, both ancient and modern. As the six venerable vampires entered the great hall, Lucille found herself captivated by their movements. Some seemed to levitate rather than walk, but each demonstrated a smoothness and elegance of movement that Lucille herself could not replicate if she wanted to.
Vampires, those that had the capacity to outlast the age they were born in, got better and more impressive with age.
They sat on the six chairs arranged in a semi-circle around Julius’ throne. Three to his left and three to his right. There were further chairs inside the main hall facing the throne for any other vampires who wished to observe the trial. The center of the hall had been kept free for the accused.
Lucille signaled at Dominic and Cameron, the two guards stationed beside the large entrance doors, to let the audience in.
Whispers and footsteps echoed against the tall ceiling of the cathedral as about three dozen vampires shuffled inside and found their seats. Then, Julius raised his right hand and the crowd became silent.
“We are gathered here for the trial of Marek the Soul Eater and his two progenies, who shall remain unnamed,” Julius spoke in a firm voice.
A whisper traveled across the audience once again.
“So it’s true.”
“A Soul Eater!”
“I can’t believe it!”
Lucille rolled her eyes. The sort of vampires who frequented Council trials were not her usual choice of company. Then again, not many people were.
Julius cleared his throat and silence prevailed once more. “Bring in the prisoners!”
Lucille watched as the double doors swung open and two more Council guards rolled in a cage on wheels that gleamed under the chandelier in the center of the hall. The Silver Vault, as it was known, was only used during trials of the most notorious, dangerous criminals. Obviously, Marek posed a flight risk; his powers were greater than those of anyone in this room. Perhaps he was even stronger than Julius himself.
Marek’s two associates were led in wearing cuffs right behind the cage.
The audience was deadly silent as the three accused were positioned in the empty space between the council members and the rest of the crowd.
Julius cleared his throat again and got up from his throne.
“Marek. You know why you are here. You are to stand trial—”
Marek shook his head. “Julius, please refer to me by my full title.”
Lucille frowned. Julius and Marek did seem awfully familiar, the way they spoke to one another.
Julius’ eyes narrowed. “Very well. Marek, son of Lilith. You are on trial for—”
Lilith. Only the most ancient of vampires held the title son or daughter of Lilith. Julius held this title himself. That meant Marek was an ancient? A contender for a seat on the Council?
“The rest also, if you don’t mind. I’ve worked too hard these past millennia for my achievements to go unnoticed.”
Lucille found that she was holding her breath. Marek had guts to interrupt Julius twice in front of an entire room full of his subjects. Then again, he probably knew as well as any of them that his life would soon be over, so he had nothing much to lose.
“Son of Lilith, Master of a Thousand Souls.” Julius folded his arms and stared darkly at Marek. How long would his patience last?
“Thank you.” Marek grinned, showing off a row of razor sharp white teeth.
During the brief contact Lucille had had with Marek, he had not struck her as one of those vampires who grew weary of immortality and longed for it all to end. Yet here he was, taunting Julius and grinning like a madman on what could very well be his last day walking this earth. It wasn’t just unusual, it was unnerving.
Julius ignored Marek’s remark and started listing his offenses, during which Marek seemed to grow even more cheerful. He was obviously proud of everything he’d done.
Lucille found herself tuning out Julius’ monotone voice. It was all stuff she’d heard before. Killing humans, leaving their bodies, risking their exposure, blah, blah.
Instead of listening to him rehashing the same old accusations, she took the time to really observe Marek. His strange appearance had fascinated her from the moment she’d first laid eyes on him.
Vampires didn’t age normally, but in the case of Marek, he seemed marked by every century he’d lived through. The casual observer might mistake his transparent skin, his slender body, and papery voice for signs of frailty. Lucille knew otherwise. It had taken a dozen guards to subdue Marek and restrain him for transport back to the Council prison.
The two younger Soul Eaters who stood toward his left now looked much more powerful, but actually did not even possess half of Marek’s strength. Lucille found it difficult to control her curiosity. She knew of vampires who’d killed humans; she had locked up many of them over the years. But these three were different. They didn’t just kill, they had figured out a way of absorbing a victim’s essence—their strength and life-force. Not just their blood.
Was it magic?
She could not make sense of it on her own, and seeing as Julius seemed in no mood to share whatever information or previous knowledge of Marek he had… She would talk to Alexander about it as soon as the trial was over. Perhaps her brother and his vast library of old books could shed some light.
Lucille rested her gaze on the younger Soul Eater who stood nearest to the Silver Vault. He seemed unafraid, like his maker, smiling subtly and staring at nothing in particular, until suddenly he looked up right into Lucille’s eyes.
A shiver travelled down her spine, but she did not let it show.
If you want to live, you’ll stand down.
So he was a telepath, and a rather talented one too, if he could communicate with her halfway across the large hall.
Lucille did not take kindly to threats. Her hand instinctively reached for the dagger she kept in a sheath attached to her belt. She snapped open the clasp that held the blade in place and tightened her fingers around the grip.
She looked back at Marek, who had started to laugh. A quick glance at Julius revealed that he was starting to lose his cool. He spoke faster now, lecturing the three accused on the codes of conduct the Council lived by and promoted. His eyes were wild, his expression even tenser than before.
Lucille looked back at Marek, who had now reached for the bars on his cage, tightening his long, bony fingers around them. The scent of burning flesh filled the air as his skin reacted to the metal. An ordinary vampire would not be able to bear it, but Marek showed no sign of being in pain. Instead of letting go, he held on tighter, tugging at it until the bars started to give way.
Lucille jumped forward, her dagger drawn, and was instantly joined by the guards who had been positioned at the doors. The crowd gasped in horror as Marek’s form became blurred, his body twisting and whirling around so fast that even Lucille’s perfect vision could no longer focus on him. His laughter echoed through the Council chamber, growing louder and louder until it became deafening.
She reached the cage, but Marek was no longer inside. Instead, he seemed to be levitating far above the ground, still turning at lightning speed, like a whirlwind. Now what? She didn’t have his talents or his powers; she could do nothing but watch.
Lucille turned and saw that Julius was frozen in place in front of his throne, his fist raised in the air in protest, lips opening and closing, without any sound coming out.
She had never seen him stumped like this.
At that moment, the stained glass of the large rosette shaped window above Julius’ throne shattered as Marek’s floating form surged against it and broke through. He was gone within the blink of an eye.
“Go after him,” Julius hissed, before repeating himself much louder and forcefully. “Go after him at once!”
Lucille turned and found that Julius had moved from his throne. He now stood just a few feet away from her near the Silver Vault, with Marek’s two followers slumped in pools of blood at his feet. After the initial shock of Marek’s grand display, Julius had recovered and taken swift action and punished them with death. Their still twitching hearts lay on the ground beside their lifeless bodies.
“Yes, master,” Lucille mumbled. It had been extremely difficult capturing Marek the first time around. This time, she would need a miracle.

Lucille’s Valentine (Vampires of London #3) by Lorelei Moone

Yet another amazing story by Lorelei Moone! I’ve been lucky to read the whole series so far. I don’t know how she does it, but each one gets better.
Lucille’s an Enforcer to the Vampire Council and has been for centuries. Since Marek escaped from the silver cage (that no ordinary vampire could have done), during his trial for not only killing humans but leaving them where they could easily be found thus potentially exposing ALL vampires. Lucille is ordered to go after him. This time she knows it’s going to be tougher than the first time to entrap him. While tracking Marek she comes across a human hunter who is also tracking Marek. They join forces to bring Marek to justice. However she didn’t count on her feelings from centuries ago coming to the surface. What is it about Valentino that has her actually connecting to a human. Will it cost her her life or her heart… Or maybe it’ll be both?
Valentino knows nothing except being a hunter of Nightwalkers-(vampires). Generations of Conti’s have done this, and he’s the last of them. His latest investigation has brought him to London. Which is where he’s found the intriguingly beautiful Lucille who is hunting the same monster he’s looking for, so they join forces to bring him down together. Does Lucille feel the same way about him as he has since their very first meeting? Or is he destined to always be alone?
To find out how a human hunter of vampires and a vampire work together to bring down a powerful soul eater, you’ll have to read LUCILLE’S VALENTINE. It’s another amazing vampire story! *This story is intended for adult audiences only. This is Book 3 in the Vampires of London series of standalone vampire romances. You can read this series out of order, but if you would like to read Book 1 and 2 first, check out Alexander’s Blood Bride and Michael’s Soul Mate.(* directly from book). There’s only one problem: she’s a so-called Blood Bride – a mortal woman whose blood smells so delicious that every vampire in town wants to drain her.

ALEXANDER’S BLOOD BRIDE (Vampires of London #1) by Lorelei Moone

Cat and Shelly were given an exceptional invitation to an exclusive Halloween Party, which meant they had to go shopping for a costume for Cat. No matter how hard Shelly has tried over the years, she hasn’t been able to convert Cat the homebody into the life of the party like herself. But as a celebration to getting her job Cat decides to go anyway. They are shocked at the house they pull up to the mansion.
Alexander not only sees, smells but feels when she walks into the house, then he notices everyone else notices her too. He has to get to her before anyone else does. After showing her around the mansion they gravitate to the master suite. Everything is fine, until she removes his mask and looks into his eyes, then she flees the mansion. Shortly afterwards Alexander clears the house telling everyone in attendance the party is over, including the vampires in attendance, which is totally unlike him. What is it with this girl that causes this reaction to him? He finds out later that night when one of the Council visits him to tell him they need to find her because she is an extremely rare human Blood Bride. Alexander knows he wants her, but has to find her to protect her from Julius their maker and the oldest and highest ranking vampire that currently walks the earth.
Cat continues to dream of Alexander, in her dreams it’s revealed he’s a vampire. It doesn’t scare her anymore, but she knows she’s blown her chance with him after running out the way she did on Halloween. Alexander on the other hand has no idea how or where to find her, but knows he needs to get to her before anyone else in the council does. Will they meet up when he has no idea how or where to find her within the city? You’ll have to read ALEXANDER’S BLOOD BRIDE to find out. I enjoyed reading this story and especially enjoyed the audible version, Gethyn Edward did an awesome job to capture the essence of the story! Some vampires have trouble figuring out how they want to spend eternity, but playboy Michael Odell isn’t one of them. He knows exactly what he wants: fine wines and beautiful women fuel his passion and he’s made it his mission to sample as many of either as he can. Fate has other ideas. One night, on his way home, Michael discovers a woman lying face-down in an alley, who is losing the fight to live. There’s only one way of saving her: The Ritual. Little does Michael know that this little act of mercy is going to change his life forever and before long he finds himself falling for the curvy stranger.

Anna doesn’t remember how she ended up discarded at death’s door in a dark alley, only that she woke up there. She doesn’t even know her last name. After coming face-to-face with her gorgeous rescuer, she passes out again and finds herself in a lavish mansion with a new lease on eternal life.

Who – or more importantly, what – is she now? And the people who tried to kill her – why were they after her? Anna is determined to figure it all out for herself. But before her questions are answered, she has to learn that even in this new immortal existence, it’s good to have friends – and perhaps a lover – by your side.

Michael’s Soul Mate (Vampires of London #2) by Lorelei Moone
Michael felt uncomfortable all evening, but couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t the party or people that had him feeling this way, he just had a growing uneasiness feeling in his chest that he could no longer ignore. So he left the party earlier than he usually did, alone. While walking on his way home, he found a woman in an alley who had been drained, by another vampire and close to death. Who would do something like this, to someone as beautiful as her? *Killing was against the rules. And discarding a drained body out in public where it could so easily be discovered? That was sacrilege.(direct book quote*). Acting on instinct, he bit his own wrist and put it to her mouth and told her to drink. When she finally did, he bit into her wrist, drinking a small taste of her blood. Which completed the cycle, the Ritual was done. He’d created another vampire—tried to, anyway, they’d know for sure the following night. Now things would forever change.
Anna awoke in a strange room feeling like she’d been hit by a bus, wearing an old fashioned type nightgown with no memory of how she got there, and initially no memory of her own name. Even though the room was dark, she could still clearly see her surroundings, including the details of the picture frame across the room. Her sense of smell was heightened as well. Then she heard the muffled voices of two men, they must be in the next room. Before going to investigate the voices Anna ended up biting her lip, when she looked into the mirror she noticed how much longer and razor sharp her canine teeth were. Had these men done something to her teeth before bringing her there? Her mind must be playing tricks on her, right now she needed to figure out where and why she was there!
When Michael noticed Anna was awake he tried and failed miserably to explain what had happened to her. *Something about her threw him off balance. He’d lost not just his game, but his entire sense of self around her. It was infuriating.(*direct book quote). Anna couldn’t believe what he was telling her, she’s a vampire?!? No way, they don’t exist! Anna is finally starting to get it, but not only does Michael have to teach her how to be a vampire but now they have the people that did this to her in the beginning to worry about.
To find out what happens between Michael and Anna you’ll have to read MICHAEL’S SOUL MATE. I’ve enjoyed reading this series, and cannot wait for book 3 LUCILLE’S VALENTINE in February 2017 to be available. All books, including this one, in the Vampires of London series are standalone and can be read out of order. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
