MISTLETOE COTTAGE (Harmony Harbor #1) by Debbie Mason
•Secrets
I just finished reading MISTLETOE COTTAGE, I couldn’t stop once I started. There were lots of twists, turns and secrets. I cannot wait to read what is next for Greystone manor. This is my first Debbie Mason story, but it won’t be my last. Her writing style and storytelling are an exquisite combination that I look forward to reading more about her Christmas stories,my favorite holiday.
Sophie returns to Harmony Harbor her childhood hometown after fleeing to L.A. after finding out she was pregnant at 18 by a Gallagher, her grandmother’s arch enemies. After losing everything but her daughter Mia to a fire, she decides to return home to regroup. However she runs out of gas and ends up on the Greystone Manor estate in the midst of the Gallaghers’ haunted tour—a Harmony Harbor institution, on Halloween. Mia gets lost during what they originally think is a fire but turns out to be fog machines turned on. Liam Gallagher a firefighter and the boy she wished would’ve noticed her and who she was half in love with as a teenager, that turned into a sexy, hot man now found Mia for her. Since their tragedy in L.A. Mia hasn’t spoken a word, but takes an instantaneous liking to Liam. Which scares the crap out of Sophie, she’s afraid he’ll notice her blue eyes. After getting Mia checked out, she goes home to her grandmother’s house with her brother Marco who has always been Liam’s best friend.
Liam is home regrouping after a tragedy during a 4-alarm fire in Boston where he lost one of his fiends who was a fellow firefighter, but he ended up saving two others. However while looking for Mia he could no longer argue he hasn’t fine, because he’d suffered a flashback and lost a few minutes of time. If that’d happened during an actual fire, he could’ve not only put his own life in danger, but his crew as well. While rescuing Mia when she looked up at him and smiled, she’d wrapped herself around his heart. Although Liam loved or thought he loved Sophie DiRossi when they were younger, he didn’t do long term, commitment, or complicated. Especially after losing his mother and baby sister to an accident.
Sophie has secrets that will be revealed, as does Liam. How will everything turn out when they’re exposed? You’ll have to read MISTLETOE COTTAGE to find out, but you’ll enjoy the matriarch feuding banter, mysterious mayhem, as well as a meddling matriarch who has a little unexpected help! This comical romantic HEA could be read as a standalone story, but I’m excitedly looking forward to reading what else happens with the Gallagher’s at Greystone Manor. I cannot wait to read Christmas with an Angel (a short story) https://www.amazon.com//dp/B01LL8C4BW/ which will be out next monthI received an ARC via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual situations, this book is recommended for readers 16 and older.

Starlight Bridge (Harmony Harbor #2) by Debbie Mason
~Once Lost
Ava doesn’t believe in happily-ever-after any longer. She had that once and although it didn’t end up as she’d thought it would she hasn’t ever stopped loving Griffin, that wasn’t why she had asked him for a divorce all those years ago. The reason is written down in Colleen’s Book of Memoirs that no one can seem to find. Ava is trying to find the book of secrets before anyone else does. The Widow’s Club named Colleen’s book~ The Secret Keeper of Harmony Harbor, it has everyone’s secrets written in it. If the book were to land in the wrong hands it could devastate or ruin many people. Ava also wants to save and restore Graystone Major from being sold to a developer who wants to tear it down to make room for new condos. All 10 of Colleen’s great grandchildren need to decide to sell the place or become what’s now called “Team Graystone” to save it.
Griffin has come back to Graystone Manor to help them prepare for the bridal show they have coming up, his second exwife thinks he’s still in love with Ava his first which he denies… Until he can’t anymore and had to admit she’s right. However what is he going to do, walk away or fight to have the happily ever after they both deserve?! You’ll have to read yet another awesome story about Graystone Manor, Debbie has done an awesome job with this series and i cannot wait for more!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley for an honest blog tour review.

Primrose Lane (Harmony Harbor #3) by Debbie Mason
• Letting Go
Another AWESOME Harmony Harbor HEA love story! Debbie has an amazing way with bringing out the best in all her characters. Although each of the books within this series could be read as standalone story, reading them all together and in order gives you additional background info and the full story of Greystone. In each book you not only learn about the main characters, but we
still learn more about the supporting characters from the other stories. I cannot wait for more from not only this series, but anything from Debbie Mason. Olivia and Finn’s story is full of emotional hurt that takes more than time to heal. To see what it takes and how the best laid plan does or doesn’t work you’ll have to read Primrose Lane. I definitely recommend taking the time to read not only this story, but the entire series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through NetGalley for an honest blog tour review.

Review ~
Thieves 2 Lovers by K. Webster and J.D. Hollyfield
• Family
Another amazingly written rom-com by a spectacularly funny duet! When Webster and Hollyfield get together you know it’s going to be a hoot. But always be prepared for the unexpected cuz you never know what’ll happen when these two awesome authors join forces together, except a spectacular story of course! Linc and Regan are best friends who ended up kissing which made things awkward. Regan’s in a relationship with someone else and Linc’s not good enough for her, he’s the bad boy. It’s time to talk about their kiss. They miss each other but can’t stop thinking about their shared amazing kiss. Is what they feel for each other love or just a paying moment? Regardless Linc promises he’ll always be there for her, he’s get best friend. You’ll have to read Thieves 2 Lovers to find out what happens between these two. It’s funny, but remember life isn’t all always just fun and games. (Author’s note that I agree with) It is best if you’ve read Text 2 Lovers and Hate 2 Lovers so you’ll understand the dynamic of the characters in this story. Plus, you don’t want to miss out on all the fun of the first two books! Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via the author via bookfunnel for an honest review.

Synopsis
I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.

Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.

She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.

I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.

Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.

While you were sleeping…

With her brother Thomas injured on the battlefront in the Colonies, orphaned Cecilia Harcourt has two unbearable choices: move in with a maiden aunt or marry a scheming cousin. Instead, she chooses option three and travels across the Atlantic, determined to nurse her brother back to health. But after a week of searching, she finds not her brother but his best friend, the handsome officer Edward Rokesby. He’s unconscious and in desperate need of her care, and Cecilia vows that she will save this soldier’s life, even if staying by his side means telling one little lie…

I told everyone I was your wife

When Edward comes to, he’s more than a little confused. The blow to his head knocked out six months of his memory, but surely he would recall getting married. He knows who Cecilia Harcourt is—even if he does not recall her face—and with everyone calling her his wife, he decides it must be true, even though he’d always assumed he’d marry his neighbor back in England.

If only it were true…

Cecilia risks her entire future by giving herself—completely—to the man she loves. But when the truth comes out, Edward may have a few surprises of his own for the new Mrs. Rokesby.

Excerpt ~

Manhattan Island
July 1779

His head hurt.
Correction, his head really hurt.
It was hard to tell, though, just what sort of pain it was. He might have been shot through the head with a musket ball. That seemed plausible, given his current location in New York (or was it Connecticut?) and his current occupation as a captain in His Majesty’s army.
There was a war going on, in case one hadn’t noticed.
But this particular pounding—the one that felt more like someone was bashing his skull with a cannon (not a cannonball, mind you, but an actual cannon) seemed to indicate that he had been attacked with a blunter instrument than a bullet.
An anvil, perhaps. Dropped from a second-story window.
But if one cared to look on the bright side, a pain such as this did seem to indicate that he wasn’t dead, which was also a plausible fate, given all the same facts that had led him to believe he might have been shot.
That war he’d mentioned… people did die.
With alarming regularity.
So he wasn’t dead. That was good. But he also wasn’t sure where he was, precisely. The obvious next step would be to open his eyes, but his eyelids were translucent enough for him to realize that it was the middle of the day, and while he did like to look on the metaphorical bright side, he was fairly certain that the literal one would prove blinding.
So he kept his eyes closed.
But he listened.
He wasn’t alone. He couldn’t make out any actual conversation, but a low buzz of words and activity filtered through the air. People were moving about, setting objects on tables, maybe pulling a chair across the floor.
Someone was moaning in pain.
Most of the voices were male, but there was at least one lady nearby. She was close enough that he could hear her breathing. She made little noises as she went about her business, which he soon realized included tucking blankets around him and touching his forehead with the back of her hand.
He liked these little noises, the tiny little mmms and sighs she probably had no idea she was making. And she smelled nice, a bit like lemons, a bit like soap.
And a bit like hard work.
He knew that smell. He’d worn it himself, albeit usually only briefly until it turned into a full-fledged stink.
On her, though, it was more than pleasant. Perhaps a little earthy. And he wondered who she was, to be tending to him so diligently.
“How is he today?”
Edward held himself still. This male voice was new, and he wasn’t sure he wanted anyone to know he was awake yet.
Although he wasn’t sure why he felt this hesitancy.
“The same,” came the woman’s reply.
“I am concerned. If he doesn’t wake up soon…”
“I know,” the woman said. There was a touch of irritation in her voice, which Edward found curious.
“Have you been able to get him to take broth?”
“Just a few spoonfuls. I was afraid he would choke if I attempted any more than that.”
The man made a vague noise of approval. “Remind me how long he has been like this?”
“A week, sir. Four days before I arrived, and three since.”
A week. Edward thought about this. A week meant it must be… March? April?
No, maybe it was only February. And this was probably New York, not Connecticut.
But that still didn’t explain why his head hurt so bloody much. Clearly he’d been in some sort of an accident. Or had he been attacked?
“There has been no change at all?” the man asked, even though the lady had just said as much.
But she must have had far more patience than Edward, because she replied in a quiet, clear voice, “No, sir. None.”
The man made a noise that wasn’t quite a grunt. Edward found it impossible to interpret.
“Er…” The woman cleared her throat. “Have you any news of my brother?”
Her brother? Who was her brother?
“I am afraid not, Mrs. Rokesby.”
Mrs. Rokesby?
“It has been nearly two months,” she said quietly.
Mrs. Rokesby? Edward really wanted them to get back to that point. There was only one Rokesby in North America as far as he knew, and that was him. So if she was Mrs. Rokesby…
“I think,” the male voice said, “that your energies would be better spent tending to your husband.”
Husband?
“I assure you,” she said, and there was that touch of irritation again, “that I have been caring for him most faithfully.”
Husband? They were calling him her husband? Was he married? He couldn’t be married. How could he be married and not remember it?
Who was this woman?
Edward’s heart began to pound. What the devil was happening to him?
“Did he just make a noise?” the man asked.
“I… I don’t think so.”
She moved then, quickly. Hands touched him, his cheek, then his chest, and even through her obvious concern, there was something soothing in her motions, something undeniably right.
“Edward?” she asked, taking his hand. She stroked it several times, her fingers brushing lightly over his skin. “Can you hear me?”
He ought to respond. She was worried. What kind of gentleman did not act to relieve a lady’s distress?
“I fear he may be lost to us,” the man said, with far less gentleness than Edward thought appropriate.
“He still breathes,” the woman said in a steely voice.
The man said nothing, but his expression must have been one of pity, because she said it again, more loudly this time.
“He still breathes.”
“Mrs. Rokesby…”
Edward felt her hand tighten around his. Then she placed her other on top, her fingers resting lightly on his knuckles. It was the smallest sort of embrace, but Edward felt it down to his soul.
“He still breathes, Colonel,” she said with quiet resolve. “And while he does, I will be here. I may not be able to help Thomas, but—”
Thomas. Thomas Harcourt. That was the connection. This must be his sister. Cecilia. He knew her well.
Or not. He’d never actually met the lady, he felt like he knew her. She wrote to her brother with a diligence that was unmatched in the regiment. Thomas received twice as much mail as Edward, and Edward had four siblings to Thomas’s one.
Cecilia Harcourt. What on earth was she doing in North America? She was supposed to be in Derbyshire, in that little town Thomas had been so eager to leave. The one with the hot springs. Matlock. No, Matlock Bath.
Edward had never been, but he thought it sounded charming. Not the way Thomas described it, of course; he liked the bustle of city life and couldn’t wait to take a commission and depart his village. But Cecilia was different. In her letters, the small Derbyshire town came alive, and Edward almost felt that he would recognize her neighbors if he ever went to visit.
She was witty. Lord, she was witty. Thomas used to laugh so much at her missives that Edward finally made him read them out loud.
Then one day, when Thomas was penning his response, Edward interrupted so many times that Thomas finally shoved out his chair and held forth his quill.
“You write to her,” he’d said.
So he did.
Not on his own, of course. Edward could never have written to her directly. It would have been the worst sort of impropriety, and he would not have insulted her in such a manner. But he took to scribbling a few lines at the end of Thomas’s letters, and whenever she replied, she had a few lines for him.
Thomas carried a miniature of her, and even though he said it was several years old, Edward had found himself staring at it, studying the small portrait of the young woman, wondering if her hair really was that remarkable golden color, or if she really did smile that way, lips closed and mysterious.
Somehow he thought not. She did not strike him as a woman with secrets. Her smile would be sunny and free. Edward had even thought he’d like to meet her once this godforsaken war was over. He’d never said anything to Thomas, though.
That would have been strange.
Now Cecilia was here. In the colonies. Which made absolutely no sense, but then again, what did? Edward’s head was injured, and Thomas seemed to be missing, and…
Edward thought hard.
…and he seemed to have married Cecilia Harcourt.
He opened his eyes and tried to focus on the green-eyed woman peering down at him.
“Cecilia?”

• Letters
This was a good story that caught me from the beginning. I enjoyed reading about the journey, just glad I wasn’t the one that was on the boat back then! Anyway this love story will have you shedding a few tears but you’ll smile more. The unexpected banter between Cecilia and Edward was outstanding, a great beginning for a series. As this was my first Julia win story, I plan to see what else she has available.Due to sexual situations, this historical love story is recommended for readers 16 and older. Blurb
Jack “Ox” Oxford is used to being alone. Granted, when you screw over your friends, being alone isn’t always a choice. Playing for the Chicago Watchmen is a last-ditch effort to save his career…and right some of his past wrongs. He’s not expecting a warm reception, but he’s also not expecting a flat tire to change everything.

Recovering control freak, single mom and semiprofessional chaos wrangler Lola Deacon McIntire doesn’t need an arrogant ballplayer to swoop in and save her from anything, much less her flat tire. And she definitely doesn’t need her body to betray her and decide this is the guy to wake up her rusty libido. She isn’t about to upset her sons’ lives for any man—much less one who so clearly doesn’t think he’s dad material.

Jack never thought he’d find someone who wanted to build a life with him, but the more time he spends with Lola and her boys, the more it starts to feel permanent. Even tough-as-nails Lola concedes there just might be a future here—the big, beautiful, messy future neither of them was looking for—but only if Jack will accept he deserves it.

Excerpt ~

At precisely 9:00 a.m. the next morning Lola was sitting in her car outside the farmhouse.

At 9:04, she was still sitting there, a jumble of thoughts, none of them productive or good.

She finally got herself moving when Jack came around from the back and leaned against the side of the house, his arms folded in front of his chest as he watched her. “Glad to see you’re wearing a shirt,” she said, slamming the car door shut and walking toward him.

He smiled and a huge thrum went through her, proving just how bad an idea this arrangement was. “I’ll state for the record that if you ever choose to declare a no-shirts-while-working day,” he said, “I’m all for it.”

She didn’t for a second believe him. He’d been Nate’s best friend since his rookie season; Silas’s favorite player. She’d watched him on and off the field for years and even though she’d already succumbed to it twice she knew that low drawl and easy smile went along with the part he played. He used them on everyone from the grandmothers whose programs he signed to the reporters who interviewed him. Up until this last year, at least.

She resisted rolling her eyes as she replied, “I’ll state for the record it’s unlikely to happen.”

“Well, then, I sure hope you weren’t spending all that time in the car thinking about the clothes I did or didn’t have on,” he answered.

Unfortunately, that was exactly what she’d been thinking about. Or, rather, him in various states of undress, her in the same, and how hot and hard he would feel against her. In danger of giving in, she went with the surefire way to shut that conversation down. “I was thinking about my husband, if you’d truly like to know.”

“About him not wearing a shirt?”

“Do you really know how to do this kind of stuff?” He was a professional baseball player from Connecticut. Not exactly the guy she’d call to hang a picture, much less help renovate a house. Then again, Nate had put him here to work and Nate generally knew what he was doing.

Still, it didn’t help when Jack gave answers like, “I’ve got a great phone. I can look up how-to videos from pretty much anywhere.”

She frowned at his grin. “You’re really not worried about your hand?” Pissing his father off was one thing; ruining his career another entirely.

“Don’t you worry,” he said, his smile turning wicked. “My hand works just fine when it needs to.”

Trying not to let on that his smile had hit her right below her belly, she threw her hands up in the air. “Does everything you say have to be some kind of sexual innuendo?”

“I was talking about pitching.” He cocked his head. “Wait, you were talking about sex?”

He wasn’t talking about pitching. She wasn’t that out of practice. But it had been long enough for her to be entirely off her game. The best reply she could come up with was a snorted, “You wish.” Except the second she said it, she snapped her mouth shut, because he looked at her in a way that made her wonder if maybe the whole flirty thing he had going on wasn’t just a way to get under her skin.

No. This was just a game to him; it had to be. He couldn’t seriously be interested.

Except then he swallowed hard and looked away.

Lola’s heart was racing and it felt harder than it should to breathe. But they were both adults here; they each knew exactly how bad an idea it would be to let this go further. And so at the same time they both turned to leave the room. The problem was that they bumped into each other in the process.

“Oh, shit,” he muttered as his hand came down to steady her yet again.

Her thoughts exactly. It was just that it had been so long since she’d touched a man—accidental stumbling excepted—and she wanted so badly to feel that again. He was the wrong person to be thinking this about. Yet she couldn’t stop herself from looking up at him.

Everything was suddenly clearer. Sharper. Even the way he stood, although he hadn’t moved so much as a muscle. His gaze bored into hers, then traveled past her jaw, between her breasts, right down the center of her before coming back up. She felt the heat rise through her, as she dropped her gaze to his lips. She’d done a lot of kissing in her life, but only with Dave. Would Jack taste different? Feel different?

“I’m not a good guy, Lola. You deserve a lot better than me,” he said, his voice gruff as he straightened up a little. But all that did was bring their bodies closer into alignment—close enough for her to feel exactly how aroused he was.

She wasn’t sure what she deserved. She’d been a good wife to her husband. She’d always thought she and Dave deserved to live a long and happy life together. That hadn’t been meant to be. Was it wrong to want so badly to feel a man’s touch, even if it wasn’t Dave’s? To want to touch a man so badly?

“Lola…” he said. Groaned, really. “This is a horrible idea.” But instead of moving away from her, he straightened up all the way, which meant they were now separated only by centimeters. She could feel his heat surrounding her.

“Horrible fucking idea.” This time he spoke more to himself.

But it didn’t stop him, either.

Instead, his hand came up and after a moment of just hanging there, he cupped her jaw, and just the touch of his hand to her skin had her nearly whimpering in longing. This was what it felt like to have a man touch her again. This was what it felt like to have her whole being reawaken. She put her hands on his chest. Everything inside her was humming. Throbbing in the most delicious and frightening of ways. She needed to be listening to what he said because he was absolutely right. And yet she brushed his lips with hers.

He stared down at her for a few seconds as she pulled slightly back. And then in one swift motion, he picked her up and spun them so her back was against the wall as his mouth took possession of hers.

He wasn’t a big fan of kissing women. Fucking them, yes. Being involved in everything else that led up to the fucking, absolutely. But kissing wasn’t his thing. Not like that, at least. Never like that

Now Jack needs Nate’s blessing before the owner of the Chicago Watchmen will even consider signing Jack to the team. Jack has one shot left to revive his career, will Nate train with him and give the coach his blessing? Jack isn’t expecting a warm welcome but he really needs a chance, will Nate give it to him or slam the door in his face… that is after punching him?? Will Nate ever forgive him?
Lola and her 4 boys end up on the side of the road with a flat tire, Jack (her oldest Silas’ baseball hero) stops to help her. She doesn’t want anything to do with him because of what he did to Nate whom she considers her little brother, however her body on the other hand thinks otherwise.
Neither Jack or Lola are looking for love but will it come knocking anyway? To find out you’ll have to read Called Out. It’s a wonderful love story that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours for an honest blog tour review.

Excerpt

He drove to the bakery and found a parking spot in front. It was near closing and the business was empty.

He walked through the door and a sweet scent filled the air. The place hadn’t changed much over the years. The fake cakes they had on display were different, changing with the times, showing popular themes, but the classics remained on a high shelf near the ceiling.

One of his earliest memories was coming here with his dad and Jimmy to pick out his birthday cake. His dad had hoisted him up on his shoulders and told him to pick any cake design he wanted. He couldn’t have been more than four or five. It wasn’t long after his mom had been killed, but the memory was such a happy one. He didn’t remember feeling sad.

That realization made him feel crappy.

No one came from the back, so he called out, “Hello? I’m here to pick up a cake.”

From the back room, with her head down, she came toward him.

“Cupcake,” he whispered.

She moved to the counter opposite him and turned her back to dig through a stack of order slips. Her reddish-brown hair trailed down her back in a ponytail. Without any greeting, she asked, “Name?”

“O’Malley.”

She spun with the pink slips in her hand. Her light blue eyes were wide, and the sprinkling of freckles across her nose reminded him how cute she was.

“You’re back,” he said.

“Another cake for O’Malley?”

He lifted a shoulder. “There are five of us.”

“It’s good to know you’re not eating all this cake. I was beginning to think you had a wicked sweet tooth.”

“Uh, your cousin Moira told me you went back to Ireland.”

The papers in her hands crinkled, and a blush swept across her cheeks. “I did.”

“Are you staying long?”

“I’m not sure.” She focused on the slips, flipping through them, looking for his order.

When she found it, she pulled it from the stack and looked up. She waved it at him with a smile. “I’ll be right back.”

She disappeared to the back room, and Tommy sucked in a deep breath. This was it. He had another chance. All he had to do was open his mouth.

Why hadn’t Moira said anything? She knew he had a thing for her cousin. Maybe she was the one who’d put Jimmy up to making him get the cake. That definitely sounded like a Moira move. But to get Jimmy involved, that took skill. Moira was obviously better than he’d given her credit for.

Deirdre returned carrying a box. She slid it on the counter between them and lifted the lid. “Here you go.”

He barely glanced at it. No one would care if something was misspelled. His gaze locked on hers as she lowered the lid.

“Would you like to go out sometime?”

She stared for him so long, he began to wonder if he’d really spoken aloud.

“Uh . . . I have a boyfriend.”

“Oh.” The disappointment hit him hard. Again, he had to question why Moira wouldn’t tell him. This was the kind of pertinent information you gave a guy before he made a fool of himself.

“Your order is all paid for.” She nudged the box forward so he’d take the hint.

He scrambled for what to say to ease the tension. “Maybe you’d like to go out and do some sightseeing. As friends. You’re new to Chicago, and I could show you around.”

“Maybe.” Her eyes shifted away. It seemed no matter what he said, he made her nervous.

“Are staying with the O’Learys again?”

“Yes.”

“I’m right across the street. Stop by any time.”

She nodded and he took the cake from the counter. Not quite the answer he was looking for, but at least she hadn’t totally shot him down. She didn’t seem completely uninterested.

But boyfriend?

Through Your Eyes (For Your Love #3) by Shannyn Schroeder
• Follow Your Gut
Another great O’Malley story. Each book within this series as well as the O’Leary series are standalone novels that are centered around these two families one way or another, they are definitely tightly knitted together. When you get a second chance with someone whom you didn’t try with before what do you do? Walk away or go after what you really want….. Well the O’Malley way is to go after what you want. Which is exactly what Tommy decides he’s going to do… Go after Diedra. But Diedra has always done what’s expected of her including working inside her families pub in Ireland, although it’s not what she wants. She loves to bake and when she finally gets to take a vacation to see her cousins in America she gets to work in a small bakery and loves every second of it… Including being up at 3:30am. After returning home her boyfriend of 5 years gives her another plane ticket to return to America for Christmas instead of the engagement ring she has expected… What is he really trying to tell her? How does Tommy for into her life? You’ll have to read Through Your Eyes to find out, but I absolutely loved it!! This is the second book of this series that I’ve read, it’s an awesome series and I plan to eventually go back to read both completed series. . In Your Arms (For Your Love #2) by Shannyn Schroeder
• Growing-Up
Hockey playing mechanic Sean O’Malley is enjoying the player lifestyle, only one night stands without commitments. Living with his little brother in the basement of their family home. He doesn’t have to worry about being responsible, just having fun and doing what he wants. Mechanic jobs are a dime a dozen, so if something comes up and he doesn’t feel like going into work, or he calls in and they threaten him with his job if he’s not there the next shift he just blows it off. He rescues Emma from the side of the road after her car over heats, due to a repair her brother was supposed to fix. He helps her temporarily fix it and helps her get it into the shop he works at and then for a drink. After drinks they end up at his place, where he puts her to bed because she had too much to drink. In the morning he convinces her to have breakfast with his siblings. Something he’s never done before, it just felt right. He just wanted to spend more time with her, especially when she’s not too intoxicated.
Emma decided she wanted to have more to out of life than what she grew up with. She knew her mother lived her in her own way, but didn’t want to have to worry about whether she have electricity or even a roof over her head month to month. So she went to college and became a teacher. She loves her job as a kindergarten teacher at an inner city school in Chicago. When her car breaks down on the side of the road after an already stressful day, and she finds out the repair is something she’s already paid her brother to fix…. She’s livid! When a motorcycle rising bad boy rides up and offers his help and a drink she decides to have one last weekend fling to end the summer before the school year starts. She knows he’s not the type of guy she’s supposed to be looking for, he’s definitely not the responsible settling down, get married and start a family kind of guy. But he’s fun to be with. After they start to get into a routine she has to remind them both that she’s looking to settle down and he’s looking to have a good time. Sean tells her they can keep having fun while she keeps looking for her Mr. Right, and when she finds him they will call it quits to whatever they have.
Will it be that simple? Life rarely Is, but to have to read IN YOUR ARMS to find out what happens between Emma and Sean. It is an amazing story of assumptions and finding out what you’ll do for what’s truly important to you. This was my first Shannyn Schroeder story, but it won’t be my last. I’m looking forward to reading Tommy’s story—Through Your Eyes that’s due out this summer. I also want to read the O’Learys series, it sounds like an amazing series and I’m sure being neighbors growing up are inter-connected with the O’Malley family.
