Andrew McQuaid wasn’t always the local playboy. Once upon a time, he wanted to spend the rest of his life with one woman-Gia Mancuso. Now, Gia’s come back to town, with a baby in tow, and it might just mean a second chance at forever, if he can convince her that he never stopped loving her.

Ten years after leaving, Gia finds herself back in Hidden Falls. Between helping her ailing father save the family restaurant and taking care of the baby her sister left on her doorstep, she doesn’t have time for the man who once broke her heart. But Andrew is all grown-up now, in every single way. And the part of her that has always been his can’t quite say no to his tempting kisses.

Just when Gia begins to open her heart, a devastating secret emerges that threatens to destroy her family and any future with Andrew. Are they doomed to repeat the mistakes of their past or can Andrew convince Gia that she’s always been his one and only?

The soft crunch of gravel jerked her upright as headlights bathed the interior of her car in white light, blinding her. Reports of women being carjacked, kidnapped, or murdered filled her mind, and she hurried to snap the buckle of Bella’s seat again. Dropping the bottle, she lunged forward, attempting to climb over the console into the driver’s seat to get the hell away from whatever killer might be approaching her car.

It took only a few seconds to realize how big a mistake she’d made.

Gia had always been well endowed, but she’d never expected her curves to get her stuck partway between her front and back seats. She wiggled, trying to twist sideways to make it easier to pull her forward. Gripping the edge of the steering wheel, Gia used it for leverage, tucking one knee under her as she tried to force herself through. It was no use. She was hopelessly stuck, now unable to move forward or back. She was a miserable excuse for a guardian and prayed her stupidity wasn’t about to end with her and Bella on tomorrow’s news, murdered on the side of the highway, mere minutes from their destination.

She craned her neck to see the flash of red and blue lights washing through the back window for the car as a thin white beam of light slashed through the window, into her eyes. She held up a hand, trying to make out any of the features of who she prayed was really a cop, even if it meant someone would witness her embarrassing predicament. The back door opened and Gia heard a deep rumble of laughter.

“What brings you back to town, Gia?”

Gia closed her eyes, wishing she could crawl under her car. How was it possible that after nearly ten years of avoiding him, she was now caught in this position by the one man she never wanted to see again, the same one who’d broken her stupidly naïve heart at nineteen?

“Andrew McQuaid,” she muttered to herself. He shone the light on her rear end, and irritation welled. “You think instead of ogling my ass you might actually help me?”

She felt the hands that had carried her to her first heights of ecstasy reach for either side of her hips. The same hands she’d sworn would never touch her again after she found out about that bastard’s cheating ways.

“Hey,” she squealed, trying to squirm away from his touch, willing herself to ignore the way her heart leapt into her throat. “What the hell are you doing?”

“Exactly what you asked me to do. I’m helping you.”

“Not like that!” She swung a hand at him, slapping her own butt in the process, but at least he let go of her.

“How exactly do you propose I help, then?”

“I don’t know. You’re the cop.”

Andrew laughed, still leaning into her car, bent over awkwardly behind her. “Honey, I really don’t see any other way.”

She glared at him over her shoulder. “Don’t call me that.”

“Fine.” Andrew moved into the car, practically sitting in the back seat, and slid one hand through an opening by her waist, in front of her bent knee. The other slid around her calf and managed to pull it out from under her. “There. I’m going to tip your right hip down, but you’re going to have to manage to twist your shoulders to fit… um…” He searched for a polite term he could call her boobs. “… the girls through,” he finished with a chuckle.

Gia felt the rush of heat flood her face. “Let’s just get this over with.”

Andrew’s hands closed on her hips again, practically cupping her right butt cheek in his palm. “Bend your right knee and I’m going to pull on three. One… two… three.”

Gia managed to twist her body as Andrew pulled her backward, and she slid through the space as if she’d never been stuck at all. Andrew dropped into the seat, carrying her with him. Gia landed in his lap with one of his muscular forearms under her breasts, the other hand cupping her inner thigh, sending a blast of heat between her legs. It was the worst reaction she could have ever imagine having.

Until she realized that hard ridge beneath her rear wasn’t his gun.

Review ~

Risking It All (Hidden Falls #3) by T.J. Kline
What happens when your younger sister once again not only runs away from her responsibilities, but causes you MORE? You have to go back home to help sort it out. Even though you ran from there over 10yrs ago. Why does her mother not see what her sister continues to do? In her mother’s eyes her sister Lorena could do no wrong, she’s a farfallina, a little butterfly flitting from flower to flower. What a shocking twist at the end that I didn’t see coming! I was frustrated along with Gia, but loved the entire story. To find out why you’ll have to read Risking It All. Although this is the 3rd book within the Hidden Falls Series, each story is its own standalone & so worth the read! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through Edelweiss for an honest blog tour review. Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older!

Tea for Two (The Story of Salvatore Book 2~The SoS Series) by Kailee Reese Samuels
This was the first story I’ve read from Kailee Reese Samuels. Although Tea for Two is the 2nd book in the SoS series and could be read as a standalone novel as I read it, I wish I had started with Kailee’s first book Juliet, just for the background information. However I cannot wait for the next book GRUNT and I’m going back to read both series from the beginning. Kailee definitely has me hooked, HOWEVER these stories are not for everyone…Please be ADVISED before reading this book, I feel that I need to advise you and all future readers that in all likelihood this book may have some things that you as a reader may find objectionable or repulsive. So PLEASE if you have a prejudice viewpoint regarding BDSM or Sharing Partners that you cannot set aside while reading a fictional story, then please STOP reading and find another book. It would be unreasonable & unfair to the author if you read and then rated their work poorly based on personal feelings instead of the fictional work the produced. If you do decide to continue reading, HAPPY READING Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. At this distance, with the width of the landing strip between them, he hadn’t gotten a clear view of her face, but his initial impression was that she was more pretty than beautiful, while her body language exuded a come-sit-by-me friendliness that drew him. She was curvy enough to let him know that she enjoyed a good splurge meal now and again, but she was also healthy and fit. Her skin was tan and supple, her eyes soft and bright, her teeth straight and white. She took good care of herself.

But it was the way she carried herself that totally wrecked him. Confidence mixed with humility. She had an authentic stride full of wholehearted openness. The last person he’d known who’d possessed that special combo was Archer Alzate’s kid sister, Kaia.

He hadn’t seen Kaia face-to-face since she was sixteen and she had attended his and Archer’s graduation from the University of Texas. But two years ago, Archer called him to tell him that while working on her doctorate in veterinarian medicine at Texas A&M, Kaia had been in a terrible car accident and fractured her pelvis. Ridge had flown straight to College Station to see her only to discover she was in a medically induced coma.

The waiting room had been packed with her family and friends, and no one noticed him standing in the doorway. After so much time away he’d felt awkward and misplaced, an outsider. Not wanting to turn Kaia’s accident into a stage for his return, he’d slipped quietly away without speaking to the family. But later he texted Archer to meet him in the parking lot to get an update on Kaia’s condition. Archer gave him the rundown, including the fact Kaia had such a high medical deductible he didn’t know how she was ever going to afford to finish her degree.

Once Ridge knew she was stable and going to pull through, he went to the business office, anonymously paid the fifteen-thousand-dollar deductible toward her medical bills, and swore Archer to secrecy.

Later, when she was out of the coma, he sent flowers and a card and he’d gotten back a kind thankyou note, and their correspondence had ended there. Archer kept his word and Kaia never knew Ridge had come to see her or that he was the one who paid her deductible.

Ridge slipped off his sunglasses for a clearer look at the provocative woman. From the back seat of the Tundra, she extracted an oversized present wrapped in gold foil. The package was so big and the backseat so small. How she’d managed to cram it in?

She tossed her head, a triumphant smile on her face, and turned in his direction. Their gazes met across an empty desert.

For a split second, his heart stopped.

Her obsidian eyes arrested him, a mysterious color that suggested hot summer nights and low, deep-throated whispers. Ripples of recognition jolted his nervous system, both shocking and exhilarating. He knew her.

Kaia Alzate.

Freakadilly circus, he’d been lusting after little Kaia Alzate. Hot for the girl he’d once dubbed the Braterminator.

Ridge coolly slipped his sunglasses back down over his eyes. She’d pestered the hell out of him and Archer when they were kids. Tagging along everywhere they went, tattling if they stepped out of line, and generally being a run-of-the-mill pain-in-the-ass. He might have hidden his eyes from her, but he couldn’t hide the goose bumps spreading over his skin, pushing an insistent heat into his bloodstream as he watched her from behind the safety of the polarized lenses of his aviator Ray-Bans.

Her snapping black eyes sparkled with glee, as an enthusiastic grin split her mouth wide. She had recognized him too, and she looked more than happy to see him.

His gut dove the way it did whenever he’d practiced a stall in pilot training, spinning, whirling, and hurtling headlong toward the earth.

Thank God her hands were full because he had the distinct impression that if she’d been empty-handed, she would have come flying across the tarmac to hug the stuffing out of him.

He didn’t mean to do it, told himself he wasn’t going to do it, but damn if he couldn’t help sliding his gaze over her body. After all, she had no idea what his eyes were doing behind the sunglasses.

Thank you, Ray-Bans.

She moved toward him, arms strapped around the oversized present. Stopped. Cast a glance over her shoulder at the main house. Swung her gaze back to him. She wanted to come over, but didn’t seem to know what to do with the package.

He kept his face unreadable, but gave her a respectful nod. I see you, but no need to rush or gush or make a fuss.

Deliberately, he turned away, telling himself it was to chalk the plane’s tires, and it had nothing to do with the fact his chest was tight and his head fuzzy. And a smile he could not stop was pushing across his face.

He was happy to see her too. So happy it freaked him out.

Once the chalks were in place, and he reined in his galloping pulse, Ridge raised his head, ready to dish up a slick greeting.

But she was gone.

Yay. Great. Perfect. He’d avoided her exuberant hug. Good work.
Why then, did he feel so bummed?

Million Dollar Cowboy (A Cupid Texas novel) by Lori Wilde
~Two puzzle pieces
Ridge didn’t have the easiest childhood. From being dumped on his father’s doorstep at 3yrs old to a step mother who hated him just for being there. Ridge made it his life’s job to best his father at everything. When he left 10yrs ago Ridge never planned to return to his hometown, after finding his father and his girlfriend in his bed together. However he couldn’t leave his best friend hanging. He promised to be Archer’s best man and Ridge always kept his promise. But noticing that his best friends little sister grew up to be an amazingly beautiful woman while he’d been gone… How was he going to deal with that?
From the time Kaia was 8yrs old, she’s always had a crush on Ridge. Problem was he was not only 6yrs older than she was, but he only seen her as his best friends bratty little sister…the little sister he never had. But when he came back to town and she seen him… Well that little kid/teenage crush hadn’t gone away, but it seems to be much stronger!!!
To read about the family triangle with Ridge, his father Duke, and Vivi-Ridge’s ex-turned step-mother. The Song of the Soul Mate, and to see how everything flows together between Ridge and Kaia like two puzzle pieces you’ll have to read Million Dollar Cowboy. I absolutely loved how this story unfolded. The different things that came together within this story definitely mate it worth the 5 stars I rated it. Due to sexual situations and adult language, this book is recommended for readers 17 and older! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Tasty Book Tours through Edelweiss for an honest blog tour review.

~He wanted to belong to her. He wanted her to belong to him. Not in a grading, controlling, possessive way, but in the perfect way two puzzle pieces fit together. Meant to be.
~The not important thing in the world. Without Kaia, he had no world. She was his sun and his moon and his stars. She was the air he breathed. The water he drank. The soul beneath his feet. The burning fire in his heart.

DeLuca Duet, Part One

Ask anyone and they will all say the same thing about just who Dino DeLuca is. A criminal, the son of a traitor, and a mafia Capo who can’t be trusted. His past has shaped his life, creating demons he can’t escape from that live in his mind day and night.

He is all too aware of just how people see him.

Closed off.

He doesn’t care—keeping people out means no one can get close enough to hurt him again, and he already has one too many monsters with their claws stuck in his back that he’s still fighting off. His walls are so high, no one is climbing over them. Or so he thinks …

Karen came into his life like a spring shower, her light shining through the darkness and making him see something other than the hell that surrounded him for so long. She doesn’t know who he is or what he has done to become the man he is today. If he can help it, she’ll never know, and his monsters will never hurt her.

She sees his differences as beauty.
She never asks for more.
She is perfect.

The problem with happiness for Dino DeLuca is that his monsters don’t mind taking away what makes him happy. After all, what isn’t given cannot be kept.

These lessons will be the hardest he has ever learned.

AUTHOR’S NOTE: The DeLuca Duet is a two book tale following the same couple through their journey. It is a standalone Duet that can be read independently with a HEA ending.

To some it probably seemed stupid for him to talk to a grave, his mother’s body was rotting in a casket six feet under, and her soul was gone high above, likely.
But it helped.
Very few things helped Dino.
Knowing he had to go and chat with Riley Conti for the sake of peace and business, Dino said a quiet goodbye to his mother, giving the headstone one more pat with his hand before he stood straight. Dino fixed his jacket as he weaved in and out of the other markers, careful not to step on the graves as that was just disrespectful to the dead.
And he’d kill any fucking fool who stepped on his mother’s grave.
He’d just stepped onto the stone pathway heading back toward the parking lot of the church when a something rammed back into him from behind.
The quiet ommpf sound was followed by a quick apology.
Dino spun on his heel, coming face to face with a young woman that held a large camera in her hands and eyes so wide he was pretty sure he would be able to see his reflection in the brown depths if he looked hard enough. She was pretty—beautiful, even—in an unassuming way with her earthy-toned clothing and her long, caramel-colored hair tied up in a messy bun at the very top of her head. The sunglasses on her head fell down over her face, hiding those eyes of hers, as she took another step backward.
She pushed the sunglasses back to the crown of her head.
Dino was still staring at her, quite unsure of what to do.
“You okay?” he asked.
The woman nodded, smiling just a bit.
That led his attention to the gentle curve of her pink lips, and the way her shoulder lifted at the same time.
“My fault,” she replied. “I was walking backward to get the right shot—missed you coming out from behind the statue. Nice day for photos, though, so I couldn’t help myself. I get the best ones in the cemeteries.”
Dino’s brow furrowed.
She talked a lot.
He barely talked at all, even when he was forced into conversation.
Maybe that was why he felt so awkward standing there, unsure of what to say or if she even wanted him to.
“I saw you, though,” the girl continued. “Over there, right?”
She pointed back toward his mother’s grave.
Dino just blinked. “Uh.”
She didn’t seem the slightest bit put off by his lack of communication, instead, rolling right on with whatever she had to say next.
“It makes me curious when I’m photographing cemeteries and see people talking to graves or whatever, and I almost stop them to chat, but never do. It wouldn’t be right.”
Yet, there she was, talking to him.
That was not lost on Dino.
She stuck her hand out, offering it to him.
“Karen Martin,” she said.
Dino’s gaze flicked down at her hand, and without his permission, lifted his own to take hers. There was a warmth to her skin that wasn’t in his, he noticed. They were both outside, so there was no real reason for the temperature difference.
Karen smiled widely. “You should tell me your name, it’s only fair.”
“Dino,” he said, surprised at how quietly his name came out.
“Do you come here often?”
Again, he answered, more honestly than perhaps he should have spoken. “Once a week usually to visit my mother.”
That brightness in her features dimmed just a bit, but she still managed a smile.
Dino couldn’t help but notice that it was a beautiful smile.
Even when it was sad.
“Can I make a confession, Dino?” Karen asked.
Dino eyed her, both curious and a little wary of her sunny disposition while she stood chatting happily in the middle of a cemetery with a man she didn’t know from Eve.
“Go for it, Karen.”
“Me bumping into you wasn’t really an accident,” she said with a wink. “You looked sad—I wanted to see if I could make you smile.”
He wasn’t quite sure what to make of that.
Karen shrugged her one shoulder again, letting go of his hand and pointing at his face as she took a step backward. “And you are, Dino. Smiling, I mean.”
Was he?
Karen laughed a sweet sound that reminded him of a melody, floating in the wind and being carried further away. “Have a great day, Dino. And if you need to smile next Sunday, I might be around.”
Before he could reply, Karen was already gone back up the pathway, and disappearing behind a rather large statue in the cemetery.
It took two minutes for Dino to get back to his car.
His reflection in the driver’s window confirmed Karen’s statement.
He was smiling.
How strange …

Just WOW!!!
I usually don’t start off a review like this, but I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for WORTH THE WASTE (Deluca Duet Part Two) to be released February 2017, for the rest of the story! That being said, WASTE OF WORTH (Deluca Duet Part One) left off at a great breaking point…. I just want the rest of the story and I’m glad it’ll be here soon!! Although I haven’t read  the Chicago War Series YET, I didn’t feel as though I was lost while reading this story, in all honesty I didn’t know they interconnected until after I finished reading this one! I WILL go ball and read  Chicago Wars to see what I missed… But I’ll wait until after I’ve finished DeLuca Duet Past Two.
Dino has always protected his siblings from their uncle Ben. Their family business is the Chicago Mafia/Mob. Their uncle is ruthless, even killing his own brother and his wife (Dino’s parents). Dino’s soul is a black hole, until one day he meets Karen. Who is a ray of light, while visiting his mothers grave. He blows her off and quits going to the cemetery, to keep her safe. Karen shows up a few months later at a strip club to audition for a job…. Just happens to be Dino’s club,. He refuses to hire her there, but gives her a job at one of his restaurants instead. It doesn’t matter that he knows he should stay away from Karen, Dino just cannot do it. She actually makes him smile, and actually makes him feel. To see what happens between Dino and Karen you’re gonna have to read WASTE OF WORTH. It does describe some dark series of the Mafia/Mob, but the story is so much more than that. You’ll keep reading from beginning to end just to see how things turn out, it’s powerful.
Favorite Passage
~ She was light in the darkness that constantly clouded his life, and he had come to rely on her to keep shining around him when everything else seemed so dull.

Review~ In Your Arms♥️(For Your Love#2)

In Your Arms
For Your Love #2
By: Shannyn Schroeder

Releasing December 27, 2016
Zebra Shout

Sean O’Malley has never tried to hide who he is. He shows it in the motorcycle thrumming between the legs of his tight jeans…the shaggy hair that falls in his gorgeous eyes…the wicked gleam in his smile when he asks Emma out for a drink. Sean is a rebel, a bad boy, and a ton of fun: exactly the kind of guy she’s sworn off forever.

Emma isn’t just the prim kindergarten teacher she appears to be. And somehow Sean can tell. As soon as he pulls up to her overheated car he knows that a fast bike and a cold beer will fix her rotten day better than compliments or a bubble bath. Her straitlaced exterior and her wild heart light him up. But Emma wants to escape her past and settle down—and if her desk jockey dates don’t understand where she comes from, at least she doesn’t worry about them bringing her back.

One weekend of intense connection can’t change the paths Sean and Emma have chosen. But with a little space to be themselves together, maybe the rest of the world can wait…

A little more than ten minutes later, she was on her way back. The sight of her knocked the wind from him. Snug jeans and fitted tank top covered her, and she had a sweatshirt tied at her waist. She’d traded the heels for a pair of sneakers. Her hair was now completely down and long brown waves flew around in the breeze. For a moment, he considered that she’d lied about it being her mom’s place because he didn’t know any moms who dressed like that. But her bag was overstuffed, he assumed with her clothes.

He pushed off the bike. “That was fast.”

She offered a crooked smile. “I really need a drink. The radiator hose was the last in a line of things ruining my day.”

“Hop on and you can tell me all about it over a beer. Or wine. Or whatever.”

“Tonight’s a whiskey night.”

Sean liked the sound of that. They mounted the bike and she put the helmet on. Before he started the engine, he asked, “Any place in mind?”

“No. You pick.”

Since he normally didn’t drink in the area, he drove closer to his neighborhood and parked beside his favorite dive bar. It was dark and relatively quiet. They could shoot pool or play darts or just listen to music. He helped Emma off the bike and locked his helmet down. Then he led her into the bar and directly to a corner table.

“This okay?” he asked before sitting.

She glanced around. “Fine.”

She swung her bag over her head and plopped it on the free chair between them.

A waitress came to the table. “Hey, Sean. Haven’t seen you in a while. You could give a girl a complex.”

When he chose the bar, he hadn’t thought about Amanda possibly working. “Hi, Amanda.”

He became acutely aware of Emma watching Amanda and him. He prayed Amanda wouldn’t say anything else.

She smiled broadly and looked at Emma. “What can I get for you?”

“A shot of Jack and light beer.”

“Miller,” Sean added.

“Bottle or tap?”

“Bottle,” both he and Emma said.

Amanda tucked a tray under her arm. “That question was for the lady. I’m pretty sure I know how you like it.” Then she spun on her heel and walked off.

Emma’s mouth eased into a small smile. He wanted to believe she was just being friendly.

“So how long did you two go out?”

“Uh . . .”

Emma waved a hand. “Forget I asked. It was obvious though. You might want to rethink bringing dates here if you’re going to run into your ex.”

He searched for the words to let her know that Amanda wasn’t exactly an ex when Amanda reappeared with their drinks. She set them down quietly without comment, thank God.

Emma picked up her beer and took a swig. “Well, you obviously didn’t screw her over too badly, or you’d probably be wearing your beer.”

“It’s not like that. We had a good night together. Maybe two. Doesn’t quite give her ex status.”

Sean pointed to the shot and asked, “So what makes this a whiskey night, other than your brother screwing up your car?”

“Work stuff.”

“What do you do?”

Emma grabbed the shot and slammed it back. When she set the glass back down, he noticed a butterfly tattoo peeking out from the tank top on the back of her shoulder. She looked at him. “I’m a teacher.”

He froze. He hadn’t expected that. One look at the suit she’d worn and he’d assumed some kind of office job, secretary or something. She was a teacher. He laughed as she took a gulp of beer.

“What’s so funny?”

“I can’t imagine any teacher I ever had doing a shot of Jack in a bar like this.”

A dark look passed over her face, but then she covered it with a smile. “I guess we all have some surprises.”

He reached over and brushed her hair off her shoulder. “I can guarantee I never had a teacher as hot as you. I never would’ve gotten out of school otherwise.”

Emma snorted at him and then took another drink of beer. “You already got me to the bar, buddy, no need for compliments.”

Sean’s hand slid away. He didn’t know how to read that. Women usually liked some sweet talk. “Being honest. If you were my teacher, I’d spend all my time imagining you naked.”

“Show me a good time and you might not have to imagine it.” Her voice was low and a little husky.

“You mean rigging your car to get you to safety, giving you a ride on my bike, and buying you a drink wasn’t enough?”

She laughed. That too was a low, sexy sound. “I might be easy, but not that easy.”
Meet the Hero (In Your Arms) – Sean O’Malley By: Shannyn Schroeder
I love the O’Malleys. From the first moment I wrote about them in my O’Learys series, I fell for them. And Sean is one of my favorites. Everyone describes him as a live-and-let-live kind of guy who happens to be quick with his fists. And that really sums up who he is.

Sean is all about enjoying life. He works as a mechanic because he likes working on cars. It’s not a stepping-stone to some other career. He plays hockey every chance he gets and rides his motorcycle until the weather prohibits it. He does whatever he wants, pretty much no matter what. When he has a chance to enjoy a long motorcycle ride due to some unexpected awesome weather, he goes, even though it costs him his job. He knows he won’t have a problem getting a new one.

Sean loves his family and likes having them around. It’s part of why he continues to live at home. He can afford to live in his own place, but he chooses not to. He’s very protective of everyone he cares about, and that’s the reason he’s usually so quick to use his fists.

Part of why Sean refuses to be more than an “overgrown boy” is because he grew up watching his older brother Jimmy take care of everyone. Jimmy is ultra-responsible and Sean doesn’t want to live with that kind of burden.

When he meets Emma, he starts to want a relationship with her and doesn’t understand how he could fall for a woman who is a female version of Jimmy. She expects him to be something he can’t be, but for her he’s willing to try.

Meet the Heroine (In Your Arms)– Emma Long By: Shannyn Schroeder

I had a great time writing Emma Long. She came to me in pieces a while ago as a character. I thought about a Kindergarten teacher who normally has a potty-mouth, but limits how many times a day she can swear (five) and the rest of the time, she improvises (fudge monkey). At first I had no reason why she was like this or any of the rest of her backstory, but I wanted to know.
As I started thinking about Sean O’Malley, I knew she would be a good fit for him. The O’Malley boys use the word fuck in every other sentence, so pairing Sean with a woman who really tries not to swear would be fun.

But as I got to know Emma, there was so much more to her. She has an older brother, Nicky, who is completely unreliable. She was raised by a single mother, Brandi, who wasn’t the best provider. The only thing that Emma could count on as a kid was birthday cake on her birthday. As she says, it’s the one thing her mom got right. So now, birthday cake is comfort food for Emma.

Emma grew up as a wild child. School was hard, so she charmed her way through. Once she got out of high school, she worked random jobs, often at the same bars where her mother worked. The party lifestyle suited her.

Until they were evicted (again). Then Emma decided she wanted more out of life. In order to make that happen, she needed to change. She went back to school and became a teacher. She’s now the responsible member of the family and her brother and mother rely on her.

Emma wants everything she didn’t have growing up. She wants a husband, kids, and house with a backyard. She needs something she can count on and she’s working her ass off to make that happen. Unfortunately, she tends to be drawn to guys who don’t fit the bill.

When she meets Sean, she knows he’ll be great for a night, or maybe even a weekend, but she can’t count on him for the long haul. Or can she?
My Review~
IN YOUR ARMS (A For Your Life Novel) by Shannyn Schroeder
Hockey playing mechanic Sean O’Malley is enjoying the player lifestyle, only one night stands without commitments. Living with his little brother in the basement of their family home. He doesn’t have to worry about being responsible, just having fun and doing what he wants. Mechanic jobs are a dime a dozen, so if something comes up and he doesn’t feel like going into work, or he calls in and they threaten him with his job if he’s not there the next shift he just blows it off. He rescues Emma from the side of the road after her car over heats, due to a repair her brother was supposed to fix. He helps her temporarily fix it and helps her get it into the shop he works at and then for a drink. After drinks they end up at his place, where he puts her to bed because she had too much to drink. In the morning he convinces her to have breakfast with his siblings. Something he’s never done before, it just felt right. He just wanted to spend more time with her, especially when she’s not too intoxicated.
Emma decided she wanted to have more to out of life than what she grew up with. She knew her mother lived her in her own way, but didn’t want to have to worry about whether she have electricity or even a roof over her head month to month. So she went to college and became a teacher. She loves her job as a kindergarten teacher at an inner city school in Chicago. When her car breaks down on the side of the road after an already stressful day, and she finds out the repair is something she’s already paid her brother to fix…. She’s livid! When a motorcycle rising bad boy rides up and offers his help and a drink she decides to have one last weekend fling to end the summer before the school year starts. She knows he’s not the type of guy she’s supposed to be looking for, he’s definitely not the responsible settling down, get married and start a family kind of guy. But he’s fun to be with. After they start to get into a routine she has to remind them both that she’s looking to settle down and he’s looking to have a good time. Sean tells her they can keep having fun while she keeps looking for her Mr. Right, and when she finds him they will call it quits to whatever they have.
Will it be that simple? Life rarely Is, but to have to read IN YOUR ARMS to find out what happens between Emma and Sean. It is an amazing story of assumptions and finding out what you’ll do for what’s truly important to you. This was my first Shannyn Schroeder story, but it won’t be my last. I’m looking forward to reading Tommy’s story—Through Your Eyes that’s due out this summer. I also want to read the O’Learys series, it sounds like an amazing series and I’m sure being neighbors growing up are inter-connected with the O’Malley family. I received an ARC via Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest blog tour review. Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older.
